Day 12 Lockdown - April Fools Days!

April Fools

Day!

What April fools pranks do you know? Any good ones? Well, someone has to bring the bad news; April's fools will be banned globally by 2022. APRIL FOOLS! Ha ha! I really got you there. Stop lying, I know I did. Today, we will be looking at 3 of the best major pranks on April 1st. Do you know any famous ones?

In 1957, the well-known BBC released a documentary about a rare plant in Switzerland that when harvested, produced spaghetti. Many viewers phoned the BBC and asked if they could grow their own in their gardens. Ha!

In Sydney Australia 1978, a millionaire businessman told the world that he would tow an iceberg all the way from Antarctica back to Sydney. Millions of people believed he could do it. He never actually traveled to Antarctica and instead he got a big floating pontoon and some large cardboard boxes, which he stacked in the shape of an iceberg and covered in a plastic sheet. To cover the plastic, a layer of shaving-foam was acquired. He then came into Sydney Harbour and people thought he had done it. That was until it started to rain. Everyone then saw the hoax as the shaving-foam was washed away. :-)

Would you believe it! In 1988, Burger King published a full-page advertisement in a US newspaper. It announced the introduction of the 'Left-handed whopper' especially designed for left-handed people. Thousands of customers had gone in to request the new whopper and strangely enough, many others requested their own right-handed version. Ain't people silly!
