Rationing
Welcome!
I have been working on today's blog wracking my brain for a good subject for today. It then popped into my head: rationing. With the situation we are in at the moment, I thought that it would be a great idea to see how much food people had back 80 years ago! Hope you enjoy!

In the beginning of WWII, a new food distributing system was introduced to make sure everyone got the same amount of everything; provided you could normally pay for it. Almost every food - and household items - were rationed. Rationed means everybody gets the same amount. Just how did it come about?
The first world war caused havoc at home. There wasn't enough food to go round. A team of people in 1940 were ordered by the government to create a system for food. They managed the creation with ease and soon, rationing began in Britain.
This is a typical weekly food ration for an adult:
* Bacon and ham 4oz
* Other meat (beef, chicken ect..) value of 1 shilling and 2 pence - equivalent to 2 chops
* Butter 2oz
* Cheese 2oz
* Margarine 2oz
* Cooking fat 4oz
* Milk 3 pints
* Sugar 8oz
* Preserves 1 lb every 8 weeks
* Tea 2oz
* Eggs 1 fresh egg
* Sweets (if wanted) 12oz every 4 weeks
It may not seem like it, but this is very little. Ration-books were handed out too:
What you would do was walk into grocer's shop, give them your ration book, you get your items and then the book gets stamped. So organized; not like now!

Lockdown Survival
Today I had a lax day. I didn't do very much work but I enjoyed myself. We have a Nintendo Wii and I use it every day for all different things. Maybe you could do something like that or Joe Wicks, it's fancy dress tomorrow! Bye!
