Day 27 Lockdown - NHS

Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Oxford Health NHS Foundation TrustNHS

Welcome to my blog! If you are new here, be sure to leave a comment and tell me what subjects I could do. Thanks in advance; enjoy!

Through these tough times, a nice gesture is being made to show our support for health workers throughout the world who are risking their lives to protect ours. Every Thursday (like today) people in the UK, and maybe even other countries too, will go out of their homes to an outside area and give rounds and rounds of applause. This isn't just for the NHS workers though, no it isn't. This is for all people who risk themselves to go to work everyday. As we clapped outside today, an Ocado driver (online food delivery company) got an extra large applause as he passed. Every Thursday more and more people on our street come out and clap their encouragement and it is also such a nice thing to be a part of. The first Thursday we had only about 2 families who came out but the next Thursday it was 3 and the next 4. By today we had 6 families outside clapping. A way to make a larger sound is to find yourself a pot or pan and a metal spoon of some sort and bash them together as loud as you can!

As an extra, a quiz question has come about and I would like to share it with you. Leave your answers in the comments below.

The NHS employs about 2 million people making it the world's 5th largest employer. Suppose I do 1 clap, my neighbour does 2, and the next house does 4, then 8, then 16 and so on, doubling each time. How many households will have to clap until there is 1 clap for every NHS worker?

Remember to leave your answers below!

  3. Currently, India is going through the fourth round of lockdown, and yet the cases recorded each day are increasing. This is of much concern, Family and there was news that previously, the number of tests conducted each day was very low. Hence the positive cases were recorded were less.
