Dad's Isolation Charity Challenge!
Today is about a little competition that is being run and played out by my Dad's company Palo Alto Networks. It is to raise money for the NHS by virtually traveling from their headquarters in Santa Clara, U.S.A and back(you can look up the location on the what3words app https://what3words.com/swept.hoot.retain; You may ask what is what 3 words? what3words is a really simple way to talk about location. Each 3m square in the world a unique 3 word address that will never change).
Anyway back to the challenge, I will tell you about the leaderboard they have for the best at certain exercises like rowing or running.
So far, my dad has cycled 139 miles, walked 12 and run 3 miles. As a whole, the UK Palo Alto Networks team has to exercise 5365 miles and there are 68 people participating. There are multiple different leaderboards and my dad is top of 3 currently: Overall; Cycling; Double agents meaning he is the best overall in 2 particular subjects. In cycling, 2nd place is only 2 miles behind! He is going for the record 'first to do 4 exercises and be winning'. Palo Alto Networks have raised £1250 so far which is 23% of the target. They have only been going for a week too! If anyone would like to donate, please go to https://lnkd.in/gCprhrt.
I'm aware that a lot of charities are asking people for assistance, but if you can spare a few coins we'd appreciate this- ;-)
When I say cycling, I mean indoor cycling on a machine called 'Wahoo kickr' turbo trainer in combo with the Zwift App - which is such a handy contraption to have in this day and age; in fact, top cyclists from the INEOS cycling team (was Team Sky) all around the world have taken part in some of the same races as my dad. My dad cycled alongside world-famous Chris Froome and another 11000 other riders last week:)
Here is me having a go on my dad's bike to keep fit!
